The Post Star gets caught trying to establish a pistol permit database.
February 8th, 2008What started as a few inter-department emails at a local office has turned into a huge shit storm for the Glens Falls based Post Star news paper. It would appear that Post Star Reporter Nick Resiman (nreisman@poststar.com picture below) submitted a FOIL request for all the information he could get on pistol permit holders in Warren, Washington, and Saratoga counties. The Warren County Clerks Office had asked if the number of permit holders by town would be sufficient but the Post Star said it wanted everything.

You will read the actual response the Post Star made on their website and then the responses from two editors that contradict both each other and the paper. A shit storm indeed.
In the end it appears the Post Star did get their list. But thats ok. We here at TheShitStorm are building our own database of Post Star employees and advertisers with as much information as we can that is publicly available. It’s amazing what you can find on the internet…
